Director's Corner
May 5, 2008
As I wrote to you several months ago, there are not enough words in the English language to say thanks to Jim Duffy for a lifetime of ministry to Catholic school students in Owensboro. His legacy definitely will stand the test of time through the many students he so positively touched in his 21 years as a teacher at Owensboro Catholic High School and 18 years as the principal of Owensboro Catholic Middle School. On Thursday, May 15th all are invited to gather in the OCMS Cafeteria from 5:00 to 7:00 PM to celebrate and acknowledge Mr. Duffy's lifetime of service to our Catholic family. Please join us to say God bless and thanks for all he has done to positively impact the lives of so many students and their families.
In many ways this is an exciting time for OCMS. We have an opportunity to celebrate with Mr. Duffy the many successes that have occurred during his tenure as Principal. At the same time, we look forward to Ann Flaherty as the new Principal who will bring new leadership and skills, insights and enthusiasm to the position.
On Wednesday, May 21st, I invite you to attend a Meet and Greet session with Ann Flaherty as our new OCMS Principal for the 2008-2009 school year. The event will occur in the OCMS Cafeteria from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Ann will speak for a few minutes at 6:00 PM and open up to questions. A reception will follow.
As always, my thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I ask that God bless Mr. Duffy with His grace and peace as he looks toward this new phase of his life. Also, may the Holy Spirit be with Ann Flaherty as she continues her preparation for the special opportunity to serve the students and families at OCMS.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the extended days on Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8th. Due to the need to make up 30 minutes of time lost due to early dismissals or late starts, DCPS has informed us that the these days will be extended by 15 minutes. I encourage you to direct specific questions about how this will affect dismissal times to the school sites.
Your comments and insights are important to me. I encourage you to keep them coming. I can be reached via phone at 852-8028 and email at ken.rasp@owensborocatholic.org.
May God's peace be with each of you!
