About Us - Owensboro Catholic Elementary 4-6 Campus

OCS Elementary 4-6 CampusOwensboro Catholic Schools are a Catholic/Christian school system that provides a quality education to its students.  We do this in a disciplined, safe environment that is rich in tradition.

We offer students and their parents a family atmosphere, challenging curriculum, caring and professional teachers and opportunities for spiritual and academic growth.

Owensboro Catholic Schools are fully accredited by the State of Kentucky's Non-Public Schools Commission.  The Owensboro Catholic Elementary has two campuses.  The Elementary K-3 Campus serves our Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade students while the Elementary 4-6 Campus serves our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students.  This allows our students to collaborate academically and socially to create a strong school unit.

ocsOwensboro Catholic Elementary (as a part of the Owensboro Catholic School System) shares in the mission of the Church in cooperation with families to provide a religious and academic education, which prepares students to become responsible members of family, Church and community.

The Elementary K-3 Campus is dedicated to Mary through the Annunciation, the Elementary 4-6 Campus is dedicated to Mary through the Immaculate Conception, the Middle School is dedicated to the Holy Family and the High School is dedicated to Mary through the Assumption.

To that end, students receive religious instruction daily, attend Mass weekly, participate as liturgical ministers (cantors and lectors), and partake in school wide community service projects.

Owensboro Catholic Elementary's school day begins at 7:45 and dismisses at 2:05.

The school will be open each morning at 7:00. Students arriving between 7:00 and 7:30 should go to the cafeteria where they will be supervised until 7:30, after which they will proceed to their classrooms.

Students may be dropped off at the 23rd Street entrance or at the door closest to the church parking lot on 22nd Street. These are the only two doors open in the morning. There is not a crossing guard provided on 22nd Street or 23rd Street, and due to supervision/safety issues, students will not be permitted to cross either streets during drop off or pickup.

Students who arrive after the 7:45 bell has sounded will be marked tardy for the day. Late-arriving students must enter the building at the 23rd Street entrance (only door open after 7:45) and stop by the school office to receive an admittance pass before going to their classrooms.

Dismissal time of bus riding students will be 2:05. School personnel will direct students to the correct buses.

Dismissal time for car riders and walkers will be at 2:15. OCS Elementary K-3 Campus will dismiss students at 2:30.

Pick up on 22nd Street - please do not enter the church parking lot off 22nd Street until the buses have loaded and left. You may park next to the curb on 22nd Street while you wait for the buses to exit the lot. After the buses have departed you may pick up your child(ren) from this lot by entering the lot on the East-most drive. Cars will form two semi-circles on the parking lot. When ALL students are loaded into their cars, school personnel will signal for the first cars in the lines to leave. Do not leave until the signal is given. The outer semi-circle will exit towards JR Miller Blvd and the inner semi-circle will exit in the direction of Veach Road. If your child has not gotten into your car as the traffic begins to move pull into the space between the two semi-circles or next to the playground fence. The school personnel will then instruct the late students when it is safe to cross the parking lot and enter your car. Because of student safety parents are asked not to park and/or pick up on either side of 22nd Street. All student pick up on 22nd Street must be from the Church parking lot. Due to supervision/safety issues, students will not be permitted to cross the 22nd Street during pickup.

Pick up on 23rd Street – to help insure the safety of all, students will be loaded into cars on the North side of the street only. No child will cross the street to enter a car. Parents should park in a line facing West, behind the parked cars. Cars should form a line beginning at the fire hydrant on 23rd Street. Drivers who leave their cars or need to wait for a student should pull into a parking space so as not to interrupt the flow of traffic. A crossing guard is not provided on 23rd Street, and due to supervision/safety issues, students will not be permitted to cross the street during drop off or pick up.

We are unable to provide supervision for students who linger on the school property after dismissal. Unless participating in school sponsored activities with adult supervision, please help us by being prompt when picking up your child(ren). Car riding students not picked up within 10 minutes of dismissal will be directed to the Extended Day Program and the parents will be charged the daily rate of $9.00.

Breakfast and lunch are available in the school cafeteria.  Parents are always welcome to eat with their children.

Breakfast is available between 7:00 and 7:30.
