Elementary 4-6 Campus Newsletter
April 10, 2009
Pre-Registration
If you have not turned in your form, please do so ASAP. Forms should have been turned into one of the school offices or our Central Office. Remember it is important to turn these forms in so we can determine our class sizes for next year.
Testing
Next Monday, April 13 all students will be taking the California Achievement Test. As you know, this battery of tests measures students’ knowledge in all academic areas except religion. We will administer these tests from April 13th-24th. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and has a good breakfast before coming to school.
Uniform Reminder
Students may begin wearing shorts on Wednesday, April 15th. Please check your child’s shorts/skirts to be sure that they are the proper style and fit appropriately. The shorts must be Bermuda length. Skorts and shorts with cargo pockets are not permitted. Also please remember they must wear belts. It might be a good idea to go over the uniform policy with your child again before April 15th.
ACRE Test Results
In February 2009, all fifth grade students took the National Catholic Education Association’s Assessment of Catechesis Education (NCEA ACRE). This summary provided by the ACRE program reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the students’ comprehension of various religious and catechetical topics. The topics fall under four major divisions of the Catechism-Part One: Profession of Faith (Creed), Part Two: The Celebration of the Christian Mystery (Liturgy and Sacraments), Part Three: Life in Christ (Morality), and Part Four: Christian Life.

Mrs. Hardesty’s fifth grade class enjoyed an up close look at Officer Henry’s DARE vehicle.
The students have been studying how to make PowerPoint presentations in the Media Center during the month of March. The students in 6A made presentations about articles from the Messenger-Inquirer. The presentations told the 5W’s that were in the story. (Who, what, when, where, why) All of the students in the fifth and sixth grades are studying PowerPoint.
