Dear Parents,

We are off to an exciting start.  Welcome Back!  We have a number of new faces this year.  I would like to welcome each of them and their families to the Owensboro Catholic 4-6 Campus.  I am so happy you decided to become a part of our school community.  Welcome!

I wanted also to extend a special “4-6” welcome to Michelle Allen, our new fourth grade teacher, and Ashley Branch, our new sixth grade teacher.  Each of them is excited and eager to work closely with you in the development of your child.

If you are interested in being active in our school, please let us know.  Our school has a wonderful Parent/Teacher Organization.  Our first PTO meeting will be Thursday, September 13th at the 4-6 Campus.  Come be apart of us.

Every Friday the office will be sending home a packet of information.  Remember to look in your child’s folder for anything from the office on this day.  Also each month, the office will be sending home a calendar of events for the month.  Please join us for any event when it fits into your schedule.  We would love to have you celebrate with us.

BIRTHDAY NEWS

This year instead of bringing treats for birthdays, the students will be given a non- uniform day for their birthday. If their birthday falls on a weekend, the non-uniform day will be on the Friday before. Students will bring home a non-uniform coupon the day before so parents will know what they may wear to school.

CAFETERIA NEWS

On Monday we will begin having a Power Break every morning except on Mass days.  This is a break for the students to have breakfast or a mid-morning snack to sustain them until lunch.  The students may bring items from home or purchase items in the cafeteria.  We also provide peanut butter sandwiches or apples at no cost to our students.  Please make sure money is in your child’s account if they are to purchase items for Power Break.

We provide the following items for Power Break:

Breakfast - $1.25      Fruit Snacks - $0.50

Pop Tarts – $1.00     Capri Sun Drink - $0.75

Chex Mix  $0.75       Bottled Water - $1.00

Chee-its - $0.75        Gardettos - $0.75

Yogurt – $0.50          Cereal Bars – $0.75

• Monthly menus will be sent home.
• Parents are ask to keep money in the child’s account for breakfast, lunch, power break, a la carte, and extra milk, if needed.
• Send money weekly, monthly, or for longer periods of time.
• Put child’s name and pin number on check.
• Students may also purchase a la carte items after eating their school lunch

INTERNET POLICY

On Monday the students will begin to go to the Media Center.  Please make sure the computer/internet use form is signed and brought back to school as soon as possible.  The students may not get on the computer until this form is turned in.

OPENING MASS

On Thursday August 15th we will celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  We invite you to join us at the Celebration of the Eucharist at 9:00 a.m.  Our opening school Mass will be August 23rd at 9:00 a.m.

OCHS FOOTBALL'GREEN OUT NIGHT'

"GREEN-OUT NIGHT" is scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2007 when the Owensboro Catholic ACES face off against the Apollo Eagles at Steele Stadium at 7:30 pm

Everyone is asked to wear their 'Green Out' shirt to the game. It will be awesome to look into the stands and see nothing but ACES green! What an incredible way to show our solidarity and support for Owensboro Catholic and our Aces Football Team.  Orders need to be in by August 22nd.

REMINDERS

• In the registration packet you would have found the Student/Parent Handbook.  Please note the cover page for the student and parent to sign and return to school.
• If your child is be dropped off at a different location by the Daviess Co. buses, please make sure you put the address of that location on the note to school.
• Please sign the Internet/Computer Use Form and return to school ASAP.

 

FAST PITCH SOFTBALL

Open to girls in grades 4-6.

NEW-ELEMENTARY GIRLS SOCCER DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM

Signups will take place on August 15, 2007 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm at the Elementary 4-6 Campus Gym.  This program is open to girls in grades 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.  More information is available if you are interested.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT SESSIONS

All employees and volunteers in the Diocese of Owensboro are required to attend a Safe Environment training class and to complete paper work for a background check.  Please call 686-8896 or email Lee Ann Schrecker at the OCS Central Office to enroll if you plan to help in the school, classroom, cafeteria, assist in extra curricular activities, coach, or participate in field trips.  Scheduled sessions dates are Aug. 22 and Sept. 12.
