MID-QUARTER REVIEW
Next Wednesday we review all student grades for the middle of the first grading period. Teachers will be sending home progress reports for each student giving grade information for each subject area taught. Please review these with your child and discuss ways to improve grades before the end of the grading period. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your child’s teacher. Deficiencies, if any, will go home on Friday.
10 WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD IMPROVE STUDY SKILLS
1. Encourage daily studying even if there is no homework. Reviewing lessons increases understanding.
2. Set a regular study time in a comfortable quiet place where your child won’t be distracted.
3. Provide enough supplies and space for your child to get work done. It helps to have a dictionary, encyclopedia, and computer available.
4. Have your child take note while reading. This can help make concepts clearer.
5. Make sure your child uses a daily planner or an assignment book to keep organized.
6. Help your child prioritize tasks. An overwhelming project can be broken down into small steps and completed more efficiently.
7. Suggest that your child attend after-school study sessions or seek extra help from teachers.
8. Assist your child in setting goals and deadlines. Gauging workloads should help prevent cramming and stress.
9. Offer your assistance in the studying process. Read cue cards and give pop quizzes to enhance learning.
10. Be willing to give your child rides to and from study sessions or events that will facilitate learning.
