Advent Collection
Once again we will be collecting money for Connie, a little girl in Jamaica to help pay for her school tuition and living expenses. Each class will be collecting money to see who can bring in the most money. There will be weekly competition among the classes and the class which brings in the most money overall by December 18th will receive a week of non-uniform dress days. If you are thinking of teacher/staff gifts for Christmas, they would appreciate a donation to this project as a gift.

Accelerated Reader Goals
The second quarter Accelerated Reader goal deadline is Monday, December 14th. Students who meet their second quarter goal will earn a ticket to the “Drive-In Movie” on Thursday, December 16.

oCafeteria News

LOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE 4-6 CAMPUS!

oMrs. Brant’s Language Arts class created open-minded portraits of different characters from Number of the Stars. The students chose a character from the novel, sketched an outline of the character’s head and illustrated five things that might be going through that character’s mind. Then the students wrote a paragraph describing their illustrations.

oStudents in Mr. Calhoun’s sixth grade science class are shown testing three unknown compounds to determine which is an acid, which is a base and which is neutral. This investigation was part of their study of the properties of matter. The students later used the data generated in the lab to communicate their findings in a lab report.

dStudents in Mr. Calhoun’s sixth grade science class recently used petunias to identify the reproductive parts of a flower. The students constructed models based on their observations. Falisha Ebelhar is shown working on her petunia.

ocsAnne Stauffer and fellow fourth Grade students learned about gesture lines and sketches before creating a pastel picture of a person in motion. Now they are creating sculptures out of foil and tape of a person in motion. They have progressed from the 2D realm into the 3D.

cNolan Mullican was chosen as the November Character Award winner. Nolan, a sixth grade student and the son of Mike and Heather Mullican, is often observed doing good deeds and showing character building manners. Congratulation, Nolan!
