ocsCatholic Schools Week Information
During the week of January 26 – January 30 the Owensboro Catholic 4-6 Campus will join with schools across the nation in celebrating Catholic Schools Week.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Catholic Schools: Celebrate Service.”

ocsAt the 4-6 Campus the teachers and students will choose from a list of activities to help celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Please see the attachment of the planned activities for the week.
We invite your participation in the following:
1. The Book Fair & Family Movie Night on Monday evening, January 26th.
2. Book Fair Open Daily Tues – Friday (Class room schedules will be sent home at a later date)
3. Catholic Schools Week Liturgy – Wednesday, January 28th, at 10:00 AM at the Sports Center. Please sign and return the permission slip by January 23rd.
4. Game Show – “Service is Right” – Friday, January 30th, 12:45 in the gym.

At the Owensboro Catholic 4-6 Campus, we think that Catholic Schools Week should be a family celebration because the Catholic school is an extension of the family - a home away-from-home where family values are protected and nurtured.

We invite your participation. We appreciate all your dedication to our school and would like to take this time to let you know how much you are appreciated!

Bring a Star to Lunch
During the week of January 26th-30th, Catholic Schools Week, we invite our students to bring someone special to them for lunch. Please see the attached information concerning menus, schedules. etc. as well as information on how to reserve a lunch. We also would encourage our guests to visit our book fair while they are in the building. We look forward to seeing you.

Catholic Schools Family Project
Each year during Catholic Schools Week our students are asked to design a t-shirt representing the theme for the week. Your newsletter packet contains a t-shirt pattern with directions on designing a shirt for the OCES 4-6 Campus. Each student and his/her family is asked to design a t-shirt which represents some ways we share our Catholic faith based on the theme: “Catholic Schools: Celebrate Service.” The winning design will be announced the Friday of Catholic School Week and will be sent to the printers. All t-shirt designs will be displayed in the hallways. Shirt designs are due no later than January 27th. All students are asked to turn in a design.

ocsAdvent Project – A Great Success!
The Advent Project that was undertaken by the OCES 4-6 Campus students was a great success! Thanks to all the teachers, parents, and students who worked so hard to help spread the Lord‘s Good News.

We were able to send over $2500.00 to aid a child in Mandeville Jamaica. This money will help pay her Catholic school tuition as well as money to assist with the purchase of her essential needs.

Liturgy
Mr. Thompson’s students will lead us in the celebration of the Eucharist on Thursday, January 22nd at 9 AM. Father Bakka will be our celebrant. We invite you to join us on this anniversary of the Supreme Court decision, Roe vs. Wade (1973). This day will be observed in all dioceses of the United States as a particular day of penance for violations to the dignity of human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for full restoration of legal guarantee of the right of life.

World’s Finest Chocolate
Our students will be selling World’s Finest Chocolate February 5th to February 20th. Please see the attached information concerning this fundraiser. Also, please sign and return the permission slip by Wednesday, January 21st .

ocsLOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE 4-6 CAMPUS!
We were pleased to welcome the Doerfel Family Bluegrass Concert on Thursday, January 15th. The nine brothers and one sister from upper state New York entertained us with great bluegrass music and reminded us how lucky we are to have the music and the education offered by the International Bluegrass Museum here in our hometown. Thanks to IBMA for presenting the “Bluegrass in the Schools” program to OCES 4-6 Campus students.
