Pesticide Reminder
Twice a year we are required to inform our parents of our pest control services within the building. If you have nay question, please let us know.
January 2009
To all Parents and School Employees,
The Owensboro Catholic School System provides numerous health services for students as well as employees. One of those services is pest control. New regulations governing the use of pesticides in Kentucky were enacted December 19, 2001, with an implementation date of July 1, 2002. These new regulations will impact the use of pesticides in our health care facilities, day care centers and schools.
To assure compliance with the law, the schools will use gel bait application, an odorless product placed in areas not reasonably accessible to the students and adults. This product is safe and therefore exempted from the requirements of law.
A liquid application of a pesticide will continue to be placed around the outside perimeter of the buildings each quarter . The new regulation requires that the schools give you, as parents and/or employees, the option to receive a 24-hour notice prior to any pest control application made on schools property.
If you would like to be notified within 24-hours of a pest control service to be conducted at Owensboro Catholic Elementary Schools, please stop by the office of the K-3 Campus and/or the 4-6 Campus to sign a register. There are some exemptions of certain types of pesticides used that we would not need to contact you.
If you have any questions concerning this or would like more information, please call the school office K-3 Campus (684-7583) or 4-6 Campus (683-6989).
Thank you,
Tracy S. Conkright
