Catholic Schools Week Elementary 4-6 Campus T-shirt Order Form

Catholic Schools Week/Book Fair
Thanks to school families and friends the Catholic Schools Week Family Night and Book Fair was a great success. We enjoyed seeing so many of our students, parents, and friends celebrating with us.

Welcome!
The 4-6 Campus would like to welcome Theresa Sauer. Theresa will be filling in for the rest of the school year in the Media Center. Theresa has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Murray State University. Theresa and her family live in Henderson and attend St. Augustine Parish.

PTO News

  • It is time to turn in your Box tops! The deadline is March 1st.
  • In October we collected $1,478.79 just from Box Tops! Please remember to place your orders for Market Day. We have already earned over $8,000.00 this year and that is with only 10% participation. Could you imagine how much we could make if everyone just purchased one item? Something to think about.
  • Thank you to everyone who helped or attended the auction. It was a huge success.

t-shirtCatholic Schools Week T-Shirt Design
Each student and his/her family designed a t-shirt which represents some ways we share our Catholic faith based on this year’s theme. Students voted the design by Mallory Scott and family as the winner. We are in the process of printing the design on a shirt for each student. Congratulations, Mallory!

Students will be able to wear these shirts every Wednesday until the end of the school year.

LENTEN PRAYER, SACRIFICE, AND ALMSGIVING
During Lent our school will take time to think about how much the Gospel means to us and how well we are living up to God’s law of love. In an effort to watch and pray with Christ each grade level will recite the Stations of the Cross each week. We will make a special effort to become more prayful and to share what we have with those who are in need.

o To this end, we will have a “Loose Change Drive” to aid “Owensboro Help Office” This project is to help our local community meet the needs of those less blessed than most of us.

o May we encourage you to find a way to have your child “earn” the money he/she brings as offering. Sometimes we make it too easy for our children. We need to impress on them the difficulty and hardships endured by many in our community in meeting the basic needs of every day living. Insisting that they perform some chore or act of charity may help to make this a reality in their lives. Can you imagine your child helping rake the yard in return for the coins he/she will place in the container?

o Our coin drive will be “Zap the Penny” Drive
o Drive will begin Ash Wednesday, March 9 and end on Good Friday, April 22.
o Each penny will count as one point.
o Each silver coin or paper bill will “zap” the penny value in each jar. For example a nickel will be minus five points or a dollar will be a minus 100 points. Checks will count as paper bills.
o Coins may be rolled.
o The object is to get the pennies in your classroom container for positive points and to “zap” the other containers with silver coins or paper money for negative points.
o The containers will be located at the school entrance on 23rd Street. Students will be able to drop money into the containers as they go to their classrooms each morning.
o The class with the most points (not the most money) will be declared the winner.

Winning class will have an afternoon of fun: Non-uniform day, pizza, drinks, and extra PE time.
