November 2011

4-H Speech Contest
Once again all students participated in the classroom Speech Contest sponsored by the Daviess County 4-H. Communication though public speaking is a primary life skill and a vital part of positive youth development. Youths learn skills of poise, self-confidence and organizing and presenting information to others.
Four students from each classroom will participate in the 4-H Speech Contest at College View Middle School on Nov. 10 (9-10 year olds) and Nov. 17 (11-10 year olds) at 6:45.
We thank all our students and teachers for participating in this process and wish the Lord’s blessings for those representing our school.

Advent Service Project
This year the students will be Toils of Joy to earn money for the purchase of hats, gloves, and scarfs for men, women and children to benefit the Pitino Shelter. According to local community representatives there is a great need for these items this year. Items may be brought in any time during the Advent Season beginning November 28.

Thanksgiving Collection
We will be collecting canned goods and personal care items again this year during the week of November 14-18. We will have boxes in Church for the students to place the items into. Students will place the items in boxes as they enter the Church for our Thanksgiving Mass on November 17th.

Mid-Quarter Review
Next mid-quarter review will be on Friday, November 11th. Progress reports will go home on Monday, November 14, only to those students with a D or an F. If you don’t have access to your child’s grades via INOW Parent Portal, please contact the school office for a hard copy of the progress report.

October Rosary
This month Mrs. Brant’s and Mrs. Gail Thompson’s classes planned Rosary services for our students. Each student received a prayer card of the Consecration of Mary and a rosary.

Mark Your Calendars!
This year’s Christmas Program titled “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be held at 12:30 in the gym on December 20. Students may be checked out of school immediately following the program.
