November 21, 2008

Thank You!
A big “Thanks” to everyone who attended the Elementary PTO dinner and auction. We had a wonderful turn out. We appreciate your generosity.

A great big “Thanks” to the PTO officers and parent volunteers who worked so hard to make the night a success. They put in many hours of planning, thought, and labor into this night and IT showed!

On December 5, the 4-6 Campus will be attending the Nutcracker performance at the River Park. Lunches on this day will be early and eaten in the classrooms so that buses can leave at 11:00 AM. Please sign and return the permission slip.

OCES Christmas Program
Once again this year, the K-3 and 4-6 Campuses will host our Christmas program at the River Park Center. Our program will be December 16th at 7:30 PM.

ocsAR News

ocsAdvent Service Project
This year the 4-6 Campus has chosen to raise money for a little girl, Connie, in our sister diocese of Mandeville, Jamaica. We hope to raise enough money to pay for her tuition to attend a Catholic school as well as money to cover her essential needs. Each classroom will conduct a coin collection. If you were thinking of gifts for teachers and/or staff, they would appreciate a donation to this project as the gift.

4-H Speech Contest
The following students will be advancing to the 4-H Speech District Contest: Wes James, Megan McCarthy, Nicholas Jackson, Annabel Moore, Caroline Hayden, Emily Hoesli, Mason Jackson, and Emily Marshall.

We are very proud of them! We wish them luck as they prepare for the district competition in May 2009.

Sweatshirt Orders
Due to popular demand, our system is taking orders again for the green uniform sweatshirts. If you would like to order one, order forms can be obtained in the school offices or on-line. Deadline is December 3rd.

ocsLiturgy
We invite you to join us in the celebration of the Mass on December 4th at 9:00 AM. Fr. Brad Whistle will be our celebrant and Ms. Glenn‘s students will lead us in song and prayer.

Prior to the Mass the Sixth Grade students will lead the Advent Service at 8:30 AM.

LOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE 4-6 CAMPUS
ocsocsJunior Achievement in action with parent volunteers, Mr. Bittel and Mr. Bahnick. These parents use many hands-on activities to help the students understand the concepts of economics pertaining to real life. The school is partnering with Best Buy to provide this wonderful program to our students. The volunteers have visited the fifth grade classrooms once a week for the past four weeks.

ocsCongratulations to Meredith Bickett, this month’s winner of our Good Character Award. Meredith is in the sixth grade and is the daughter of Gary and Karen Bickett.
