PARENT – TEACHER CONFERENCES
On the front of the newsletter, you should have received a letter with information about Parent-Teacher Conferences. The conferences have been scheduled for Thursday, October 18th. We have used a Computer Management Program to schedule the conferences. We ask that you make every effort to come at the time that is already scheduled for you. If you need to make changes, please contact the school office, not the classroom teacher.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Prayer Service on Thursday will be planned by Mrs. Salisbury’s class. The service will begin at 8:15 a.m. Please join us!
Bus Safety has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd.
October 8-12 Fall Break
October 15th last day to wear shorts.
Students in Mrs. Castlen’s class explore the web-site found in their Social Studies textbook to play a review game. Using the P.C. TV converter, the entire class was able to play at the same time. The game asked questions and when answered correctly, the students earned artifacts from different Native American groups to put in a museum!
Every sixth week of school, the fourth grade students have a spelling bee to review the unit words. There are five contestants from each of the four classrooms. The top three finalists for the first contest of the year were from Mrs. Salisbury’s class. The winner was Mikayla Berry; second place was Becca Ballard; and third place was Luke Reid. Congratulations!

Mrs. Glenn and Mr. Gary’s fifth grade students have been studying Native Americans. They were placed in groups to find information about their ways of life and their surroundings; this included villages, shelters, sources of food, clothes and tools.
The students used computers, encyclopedias and their textbooks to obtain information about their Native American group.
Happy Birthday!! Parker Ogle, Rebecca Gross
