St. Meinrad - Grade 6
October 2011
Sixth Grade students enjoyed a field trip to St Meinrad to learn about the Benedictine life and its long tradition of prayer, work, and community. They made a pilgrimage to the Monte Cassino Shrine where Fr. Brandon Williams, a graduate of St. Meinrad, blessed and passed out brown scapulars. He compared the little brown scapulars to the ones worn by the Benedictines as part of their habit. Father Abbot Justin lead our tour through the monastery and we were able to join the monks for noon prayer. The students enjoyed a picnic lunch on the grounds on the beautiful Fall day.
Thanks to Donna Murphy and the sixth grade teachers for a great well planned day.
