OCS To our “old” Friends and Family Welcome Back! To our “new” Friends and Family– Welcome to the K-3 Campus where Faith and Education truly go hand in hand!

This is an exciting year for the Catholic System and especially for the K-3 Campus.
ocs Our enrollment is up! We have expanded our library and our cafeteria; Marlys McDaniel painted two beautiful murals in the cafeteria as well as in the new building; The hallways have all gotten a fresh coat of paint; and the Annunciation Center is near completion! All six of the classrooms are finished and our 3rd Grade classrooms as well as the Computer Lab are now located in the new building.
We have a lot to CELEBRATE and be thankful for! AMEN!
ocs New Staff Members
Welcome to new staff members Nancy Neal (K), Andra Goetz (2nd), Michelle Sandefur (K Assistant), Phyllis Bastin (Cafeteria/Housekeeping), and Heather Mullican (Health Tech).

ocs Please check your child’s backpack every day for important information and/or homework assignments. Every Friday your child will bring home a school newsletter. This will have important information and dates in it, so please keep it in a prominent place at home, so that you can refer to it as needed.

ocs Electronic E-mail News
At the beginning of each week, and as announcements and reminders are needed, the K-3 Campus will send out electronic e-mail with important information. If you are not currently receiving this and would like to– You can sign up at:
www.owensborocatholic.org
Simply click on Newsletters at the top. From there you can sign up for Electronic Newsletters from any school site, as well as from Central Office.

ocs IMPORTANT REMINDER
Every student must turn in the form located in the front of the OCS Student Handbook. You received the handbook in your folder at registration. Please take the time to read through the handbook, tear out the form, sign it, and return it to school as soon as possible. The form states that you have read the Handbook and also gives permission for your child to be in class and school photos.
After reading the student/parent handbook, print out and sign page 1 of the document

EVERY FRIDAY is “Faith in Education” Spirit Shirt Day! On Friday’s students may wear their green “Faith in Education” t-shirt to school with uniform pants or shorts. If your child has not been given a free shirt yet, please contact the office and we will provide him or her with one.

ocs Happy Birthday this week to: Elizabeth Ford, Samuel Hyland, Sydney Sandefur, and Michael Howard

ocs Thank you to the PTO for providing volunteers to help with the Open Houses and Registration! We couldn’t do it without all of our wonderful parent volunteers!

ocs Morning Drop Off
Now that the first three days of school are over, it would be very helpful if you would drop your child off, rather than walk them in every morning. You may let your child out anywhere from the front door to the end of the building. Students may enter the front door OR the side cafeteria door.
Students who arrive before 7:30 will be directed to the cafeteria. Breakfast is served until 7:35. The TARDY bell rings at 7:45, so please have your child to school by this time.
If you walk your child in, PLEASE USE THE CROSSWALK along the side of the playground area, before crossing the parking lot to the school.

ocs Afternoon Dismissal
Make sure your child knows if he is a 2:15 or 2:30 car rider or if he is riding the bus. In the afternoon, parents who pick up should get out of the car and walk up to the front row, so that children will see a friendly face. With so many cars in the parking lot, it is hard for the children to find their car!

Also remember– if you are picking your child up at 2:15, you must be in the parking lot BEFORE 2:15. At 2:15 the bell rings, and the stop sign goes up on Placid to ensure that our children exiting the building are safe!

ocs ELEMENTARY COOKBOOKS
At the end of last school year we collected recipes from students and OCS families and put together an OCES Cookbook to help raise money for the Annunciation Center. We still have cookbooks to sell! If you did not get one, please call or stop by the school office and get your copy today! Cookbooks are $15 and all proceeds will go toward the new gym!
We would also like to sell these cookbooks to the wider Catholic Community.

If you could volunteer to take some cookbooks and sell them at your parish at the end of Mass, let us know! It would be greatly appreciated!

OCS “GREEN-OUT NIGHT" is scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2007 when the Owensboro Catholic ACES face off against the Apollo Eagles.
These special T-shirts will be pre-sold and everyone is asked to wear their shirt to the game. It will be awesome to look into the stands and see nothing but ACES green! What an incredible way to show our solidarity and support for Owensboro Catholic and our Aces Football Team.
Pre-Order your ‘Green Out Night’ T-Shirt for just $10 each. Order forms are attached or you can go to the following website:
