December 5, 2008

December 8- Holy Day of Obligation- All family and friends are invited to join us for Mass on Monday at 9:00 as we celebrate the Feast of Immaculate Conception. Since we are celebrating Mass on Monday, we will not have Mass on Thursday.

ocsThe Immaculate Conception
Many people mistakenly believe that the Immaculate Conception refers to the conception of Jesus Christ. The Immaculate Conception is a dogma of the Catholic Church in regards to Mary, the Blessed Mother. An official statement of the doctrine reads, “…the blessed Virgin Mary, from the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of Almighty God, in view of the merits of Christ Jesus the Savior of Mankind, was preserved free from all stain of original sin.” So the Immaculate Conception is our belief that Mary was protected from original sin, that Mary did not have a sinful nature, and was, in fact, sinless.

Attached was information about the Christmas Program on December 16. If this is your first year at the K-3 Campus, you are in for a treat. All of the students participate and it is truly a night that will get you into the Christmas Spirit. We will be going to the Riverpark to practice the morning of the Program, so please sign and return the attached Permission Slip.

csThank you for the “loose change” already sent in for our Advent Project as the children “Build a Bed for Baby Jesus” and earn money for Birthright. As students bring in their good deeds and prayers the pile of hay in the manger keeps growing!!

ocsCongratulations to Lucy Wright, Katie Hayden, Michael McCarthy, Garrison Mayfield, Grace Goedde, and Griffin Rudy for reaching the 50 Point Club in Accelerated Reader Points. Congratulations to Olivia Bickett, Geneva Renshaw, and Emma Goetz for reaching the 100 Point Club!
