15. Horatio Alger Kentucky Scholarship Program- Eight $5,000 scholarships awarded annually in Kentucky that are funded through the generosity of Jack M. Gill and his wife Linda. Application is available at http://www.horatioalger.org/scholarships/apply.cfm
16. AXA Achievement Scholarship- The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers college scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, community or the workplace. 17. Big Sun Scholarship
The Big Sun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

19. KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program
Created in 2006, the program is dedicated to assisting students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a public institution within their legal state of residence. To qualify a student must be:
• Graduating from high school this academic year
• Maintaining a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Enrolling in a public, in-state college or university
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree
• U.S. Citizen

26. Georgetown College Creative Writing Scholarship-$4000 over the course of 4 years. Criteria: 1. Must submit a 10 page or less writing sample/double spaced/numbered pages/cover sheet must include: name, High School, Indication that you are applying for the scholarship, indication if you are applying for any other Georgetown Scholarships and if you have or are going to apply for admission into Georgetown College. Due date is February 15th.
29. ESA Foundation Scholarships: The foundation supports 24 scholarships and endowments as well as three general scholarships for the state of Kentucky. The application can be used for multiple scholarships and endowments. Requirements, due dates and extra applications are available at www.esaint.com/esaf Applications are on the left side of the bar. Click on ESA Foundation Scholarship applications and Guidelines; print the application. There is a $5 application fee. There are applications and a list of scholarships available in the counseling office.
31. Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 4th year.
We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.

32. Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation Scholarship
It is a pleasure to announce the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation Scholarship Program for 2010. For over 50 years, Kentucky Farm Bureau has assisted thousands of students across the state in their educational pursuits. This year’s scholarship offerings are listed on the last page of the attached scholarship application.
The 2010 Kentucky Farm Bureau scholarship application contains the rules for eligibility on the first page. When submitting a completed application, please include all materials that are requested. Do not use old applications since all are outdated. Please note that there is only one application for all scholarship awards.
Please be aware that for most of our scholarships, the student does not have to be from a farm family. The exception is the Leadership in Agriculture Scholarship. For more information, refer to the eligibility rules on the first page of the application. In addition, check with your county Farm Bureau to see if they offer additional scholarship opportunities for local students.
I encourage you to distribute the scholarship applications to eligible seniors in your local high school. You may duplicate the application as many times as you wish. The application can also be found on the Kentucky Farm Bureau website. To access the application online, simply go to www.kyfb.com and click on “Federation”. Once on the Federation webpage, click “Scholarships” found under “Program Links”.
To apply for our scholarships, a student must have either a minimum 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or a minimum 23 ACT scores. You must be a child of a Kentucky Farm Bureau Member. All applications must be postmarked by February 26, 2010, to be considered. Winners will be notified by May 15, 2010.
Your cooperation in promoting Farm Bureau’s scholarship program in your local high school is greatly appreciated. It may be helpful to give a copy of this letter to each applicant and urge them to familiarize themselves with the eligibility rules and related information pertaining to these scholarships. 33. Denise Fleck Memorial Scholarship Fund: Applicants must be actively involved with tobacco prevention programs or activities. Must be a senior from high school in Kentucky and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5. Financial need will be considered but not required. Scholarships are for one year and are not renewable

34. Daviess County Farm Bureau Scholarship: Must be a child of a Daviess County Farm Bureau member and remain such while the scholarship is in force. Have either a 2.5 cumulative GPA or a minimum of 19 on the ACT. Applications are available in the counseling office. Applications due February 15th
35. University of Southern Indiana Art Department Scholarships
1. Sol and Arlene Bronstein Art Scholarship: Valued at $1,000 for incoming freshman art or art education majors. It is a renewable scholarship.
2. Portfolio Day scholarships: Range from $500- $1,500 per year. Awarded to students who plan to pursue a degree in art or art education.

37. Sweet 16 Scholarship: PNC will again be sponsoring 32 one-time $1,000 scholarships in addition to their title sponsorship of the Boys' State Basketball Tournament. One boy and one girl from each of the 16 regions will be selected. This application is open to all KHSAA sanctioned sports (including cheer). Please forward to any interested students. A school may have more than one apply from his/her school. Please note the deadline for submission is Feb. 19, 2010 and must include a photograph for inclusion in the program. 38.Old National Bank Community Matters Scholarship: Old National Bank will award a $1,000 scholarship for post-secondary education to 12 students - one in each of the regional communities the bank serves. Students must be current high school seniors and have a Kid$ Start savings account.
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to community service and be able to provide documentation of such service. For more information, including full eligibility criteria and a scholarship application go to www.oldnational.com/kids. The application deadline is March 15, 2010. Scholarship recipients will be announced in mid April.
39. KBFAA Youth Scholarship Program: The KBFAA, an official chartered chapter of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), is pleased to announce the availability of college scholarship awards to sons and daugh¬ters of active-duty police and fire personnel. The scholarship awards, in the amount of ($1,000) for first prize is available to qualified high school seniors. The rules for eligibility are contained in this mailing. The NBFAA has more than 2,500 members and the KBFAA has 70 members in our state. Our members are companies that sell, design, install, maintain and monitor electronic burglar and fire alarm systems. This scholarship award is a small way for our industry to say thanks to our very dedicated public safety community, and to help pay for an advanced education for deserving students. March 31 — Application deadline for students to submit materials to the state chapter. Applications are available in the counseling office.
40. B. Davis Scholarship: The creators of the “ScholarshipQuestHelper” website are offering a scholarship for 2010. Please visit our website at http://www.scholarshipquesthelper.com to read about us and to apply for our scholarship. While you’re there, please browse through the rest of the site to learn more about applying for scholarships. Our website was developed solely for the purpose of helping students locate and apply for scholarships. We are trying to improve the students’ chances for success. 41. www.scholarships4school.com: The following website provides an overview of the scholarship process from beginning to end. The website includes information on how to choose a college and how to keep scholarships you earn. Scholarship information is provided for specific fields of study (such as law or nursing).
42. Kentucky Amvets Auxiliary Scholarship: Available for high school graduates who have been accepted into a school for a service oriented profession. Applications submitted will be judged on: Need…Scholastic Rating…. Personality ….. Aims. Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline is Feb. 24th.
43. Owensboro Community & Technical College Scholarship: Applications are in the counseling office. Application is due March 25th to Mr. Lowe
44. The Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana will be accepting applications for the 2010 Shannon O’Daniel Memorial Scholarship Award. The one-year $1,000 award is given to a deserving student who meets the following criteria:
• • Is a college-bound high school senior
• • Is under a physician’s care for epilepsy (or seizure disorder)
• • Lives in Kentucky (excluding Boone, Campbell, Grant and Kenton counties) or lives in Clark, Floyd or Harrison Counties in Indiana.
Scholarship Vision: The recipient of the Shannon O’Daniel Memorial Scholarship should be a student who has shown courage in dealing with epilepsy and seizures, has a commitment to their education and demonstrates perseverance in eliminating the obstacles the epilepsy and seizures may present. Shannon O’Daniel was a senior in college and just credit hours away from graduating when she died from Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). Her life was a struggle to overcome the seizures that frequently disrupted her life. Shannon had a strong determination to achieve her dreams, one of which was receiving a college diploma. In the aftermath of her tragic death, this scholarship was created to honor Shannon’s achievements. The Shannon O’Daniel Memorial Scholarship Selection Committee will award the scholarship to the student who meets the above criteria and who best fits the vision of the scholarship.

45. Transportation Cabinet Scholarships
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has created a program that will provide as many as 10 students with scholarships to pursue an associate's degree in civil engineering technology.
The Transportation Cabinet will award $2,500 per semester for students to complete the degree program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College in Lexington, Ky., or Big Sandy Community & Technical College in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Upon completion of their degree, students who are awarded and accept the scholarship are required to work for the Transportation Cabinet for one year for each year they receive scholarship funds, according to a news release.
The cabinet also might provide summer employment for scholarship students who make "reasonable progress" in their degree program.
The deadline to apply for the scholarships is March 1. Recipients will be notified by April 1. The application and more details about the program can be found at www.transportation.ky.gov/scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 1 of each year. We need your help to make sure every student who is interested in pursuing a civil engineering degree is aware of this outstanding scholarship program.
46. Carl D. Perkins Assistanceship Award
The Kentucky Association of Career and Technical Education is accepting applications for the Carl D. Perkins Assistanceship award. One secondary and one post-secondary student will be selected to receive a $500 scholarship. To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be a full-time student enrolled in one of the state’s vocational-technical schools and must be in need of financial assistance.
Deadline for application is April 15, 2010. Forms are available in the counseling office.
47. KWC Kentucky Gamma Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship: $500 scholarship each to outstanding freshman males entering KWC next year. Must be attending KWC in the fall of 2010. Applications are available in counseling office. Due May 14th.
48. Better Business Bureau Richard E. Akers Ethics in Action Scholarship: $2000 scholarship awarded to college bound student who has demonstrated high ethical standards in decision- making and behavior. One student from each school will be chosen. Due March 26th to Mr. Lowe
49. Independence Bank Scholarships: 10 scholarships available including the Charles A. Reid Scholarship and the Maurice E. Reisz Scholarship. See Mr. Lowe for application and details. Due March 19th
