Care Packages for Iraq Soldiers
May 7, 2007
Captain Lonnie Gentry of the United States Army visited with students at Owensboro Catholic Middle School. The students have been collecting money through the Snack-a-Week program to buy and mail care packages to Captain Gentry’s troop serving in Iraq. Gentry graduated from OCMS in 1993. During his visit, Captain Gentry showed students a slide show of Iraq and some of the castles around Bagdad which the U.S. army now occupies.
He also made a direct call back to his fellow officers in Iraq, and students were able to ask questions to them over the phone. Captain Gentry spoke to the students about his job in the Anti-terrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) section of the army and encouraged the students to keep praying for all the military.
